Recent comments from EA executive VP and COO of worldwide studios David Gardner suggest that EA were banking on PSP being the dominant handheld format, (as did most people to be fair) and are now quite disgruntled by the fact that Sony have failed to deliver. And its difficult not to agree.

Sony really have dropped the ball with the PSP, failing to drive the price of the hardware down (especially in the European territories) and the lack of decent software has quite literally crippled the platform. As a PSP owner it difficult to not feel dissatisfied too, I didn’t purchase the console to play inferior PS2 ports and nor did I want to wait what’s now going on 2 years for it to receive its first exclusive AAA quality title (Ultimate Ghosts’N Goblins). Plus the line-up over the coming holiday period doesn’t appear to be doing the handheld any favours.

I’m just glad that someone else has finally had the balls to say it; the PSP is cool piece of technology but one lacking a plethora of fun games.
