Further to our earlier exclusive, we’ve now received more information regarding the shutdown of the EA Warrington studio. Our sources have informed us that most if not all of the development staff will not be relocating down south. They will instead look to join other studios in the north.

Breaking News: EA Warrington Shut Down

Several reliable sources tell InnerBits.com that the Electronic Arts studio in Warrington (located in Northwestern England) will cease operations effective October 16th, 2006. It is rumored that the staff has been offered a relocation to Chertsey — 250 miles away — as an alternative to layoffs.

Digital Distribution News

A plethora of announcements this past week further cement the age of digital distribution for video games.
Psychonaut was officially released on Steam this week (as I had previously mentioned). I expect digital sales of the game to approach or surpass the original retail sales.
