It turns out that contrary to our predictions, Sony will launch the PS3 in Europe in March after all. Some cynics might point to reports of PS3s sitting on shelves in North America, and low sales in Japan to explain how Sony managed to pull off the European launch in time, but that is a narrow-minded view.

This is quite a positive step for Sony. It shows that they’ve finally resolved their production issues, and that they are starting to come through on their promises. They are releasing a highly anticipated console, which, if you haven’t purchased an Xbox 360 contains an impressive launch lineup. To us, the prohibitively high price is the only remaining concern. Launch sales, and the demand in the months following the launch will greatly influence how soon the price starts going down.
