Well, we’re back from GDC, and have spent the week recovering from jet lag and various ailments. We’ve got reports coming on various sessions we’ve attended which were interesting, but for now here is a quick round-up.
The Independent Games Summit (IGS) was one of the highlights of the show, featuring numerous wonderful lectures, the best of the indie scene assembled, and provided a refreshing breath of fresh air to the staleness of some of the other areas of the industry. Most encouraging is how the indie business is growing and becoming increasingly viable for developers. It is interesting to note the impact it is having on the mainstream industry, with both Sony and Microsoft actually trying to recruit indie games onto their platform.
Sony’s keynote was also an exciting event at GDC (as has been reported all over the internet, provide a couple of links). Home for the PS3 was an important announcement (and we will definitely go into it with more depth), but LittleBigPlanet was definitely the highlight, everyone was electrified by it.
Other notable events were the IGF Awards and the Choice Awards, the games publishers rant session (and the whole hoopla regarding Chris Hecker’s Wii comment).

Glad to see you back and posting.
